Finally the wait has ended with the launch of new OnePlus 6, the successor of OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. This new phone features all glass body (at front as well as at back) having edge to edge display with infamous notch. The primary focus of this new OnePlus 6 is on speed as it is launched with tagline “The Speed You Need”.
Body:
As switching from metal to glass has been a trend in 2017-2018, this does not come as a surprise. Although having glass at back has its own advantages. The phone appears to be stunning with gorgeous black piano finish. The aluminum black side frame of the phone comes in glossy black adding to the look and feel of glass making it indistinguishable. Also glass has its advantage of strong grip as compared to the previous metal bodies.
However, here are some disadvantages too. The latest version of Gorilla Glass tends to pick up micro-scratches and abrasions. Moreover it is a fingerprint magnet, the glossy finish attracts smudges. But this will not bother you in its other two variants 'The Midnight Black' and 'The Silk White' which have the matte finish glass on the back with silky, sandblasted finish. These devices have matte finished aluminum side frame to match the glass. This will avoid fingerprints and scratched better than 'Mirror Black' but it is very slippery. Therefore in any case you will require a case with this phone.
Display:
OnePlus 6 has 19:9 front display with a notch that is already familiar. It has remarkably thin bezels all around with smallest chin ever at the bottom.
Along the sides it has moved its alert slider to the right side rather than being placed on left for all these years. The power button sits right under the alert slider. Dual SIM tray and Volume control buttons sits on the left side of phone. These buttons are stiffer comparatively making it less easy to press accidentally. The slight sharp edges do not feel pleasant on the fingers.
Camera:
OnePlus introduced few changes to the camera. The rear one supports a 16MP Sony IMX 519 sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) however the one at back suports 20MP Sony IMX376K sensor. These features will help improve low light shots as well as will provide better video quality.
Now rear camera supports 4K resolution video at 60fps. OnePlus6 records super slow motion at 480 fps at 720p resolution.
Water Resistance:
This phone comes with water resistance which do not mean that it can be taken to pool while swimming but can handle a splash of rain. According to the company a special type of foam has been placed between the screen and battery also waterproof material is used for headphone jack and fingerprint scanner.
