at 100% disk usage. Thus their PC tends to freeze and unable to run smoothly.
It took ages to open applications such as Task Manager and after opening the
users realize that their disk is being used at its full capacity.

Method One. Check your Anti-virus Software

AVG anti-virus should be able to scan your system drive and detect any
problems, inspite of having heavy load on your drive, this may take a while.

Method Two. Disable Windows Search
There are two ways to disable Windows Search:
temporarily disable Windows Search and permanently disable Windows Search.
Temporarily disable Windows Search:
• Right
click on Start button
• Run
Command Prompt as an administrator
• Now type net.exe stop "Windows search"
Permanently disable Windows Search:
• Press Windows + R key, then type services.msc.
• Double-click Windows Search option to enter Properties window.
• Now change the
Startup type to Disabled. Then click Apply and OK to save your changes.
Method Three. Clear up the Running Memory
You can clear up running memory which will decrease
the disk usage. Here are simple steps to solve this problem. You

Method Four: Disable SuperFetch
SuperFetch helps to decrease boot time and make
must-load programs run more efficiently. However, this causes disk performance issues in Windows 8 and later versions of
Windows, including Windows 10. Here’s how to stop this service:
1) On your keyboard, press Windows key and X at the
same time, then choose Command Prompt (Admin).
2) Click Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
3) The command prompt will once again display. Type
in the following command:
net.exe stop superfetch
4) Hit Enter on your keyboard.
Check after sometime to see if computer starts
performing better.
Method Five: Run disk check
1) On your keyboard, press Windows key and X at the
same time, then run command prompt as admin
2) The command prompt will once again display. Type
in the following command:
chkdsk.exe /f /r
4) Hit Enter key, then type Y to confirm. This will
perform the disk check the next time you restart your computer.
Method Six:
Change the settings in Google Chrome and Skype

Sometimes particular combination of Skype and
Google Chrome browser settings causes the 100% disk usage problem.
Note that the steps on different versions of Chrome
could be slightly different.
1) In Google Chrome, click the three-dot icon at
the top right corner and choose Settings.
2) Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click
Advanced.
3) Now turn off “Use a
prediction service to load pages more quickly” option under 'Privacy and Security' section.
4) Also make sure that your Skype is not running.
5) Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\.
6) Right-click on Skype.exe and select Properties.
7) Go to the Security tab and select Edit.
8) Click “ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES” option and
check “Allow” checkbox for Write and click on “Apply” button
Now check your disk usage in Task Manager to see if
this has resolved the problem.
